San Diego– Saturday October 5, 2014, LOSC sponsored Men’s softball team La Defensa took back to back championships with a final score of 10-9 in the Men’s A Division of the San Diego County Bar Association Softball League. It was a grueling back and forth game with rival team, Swingers. La Defensa’s captain, Steve Cline, had his concerns going into the game. “We already played one game this morning and these guys have been hot hitters all season. We have our work cut out for us.”
Each inning of the 9 inning game was critical as both teams hit well and played defensively. After the Swingers hit a Grand Slam late in the game, La Defensa fans thought it was all but over. However, with the top of the teams line up came a new wave of runs that the Swingers could not stop. In the end it came down to the final pitch in the bottom of the last inning hit by Cline himself to bring in the winning run.
During the celebration after the game, when asked what this win meant to him, Cline said “This win means a lot. This group of guys has been playing together for a long time, some of us for more than 10 years.”
Congratulations La Defensa!
